How To Use This Site PDF Print E-mail

This site has many features and can be overwhelming at first. You will find below a list of items to help you navigate and get the most out of what this portal has to offer. If you have suggestions please don't hesitate to submit your ideas on how to help others better navigate the Mississippi Workforce University Portal.

  • Create a username and password. (Unfortunately, due to excessive spamming, you now must send an e-mail requesting to join the portal. You may send your request to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) Doing so allows you to submit articles, websites, and access other resources. It also allows us to monitor traffic.
  • Remember that creating a username and password for the portal does not mean that you have access to the course management system (Moodle). That system is totally separate which means that the first time in you will also need to create a username and password. You can use the same one you created for the portal if you like.

To upload documents as a member of the Workforce University:

  1. It is easiest to create and manage text documents. However, it is NOT recommended that you copy and paste directly from Word documents. For some reason Word puts MANY extra codes into the html and you will have difficulty making it look like your original without a lot of extra manipulation...and sometimes it affects the way the page loads. Therefore, if you will copy your Word document and first dump it into Microsoft Notepad, your output will be simple text and then you can paste it in a "new" article on the Workforce Portal.
  2. For space concerns on the front page of the portal, where the article will appear, allow on a few lines to show for introducing the article. At the bottom of the article page there is a "Read More" button that you select to put the break into the article to allow readers to click on to see the rest of the article.
  3. When you save your article be sure to under "Section" dropdown list choose "News Features" and "Category" should read "Latest News."
  4. Pdf's and multimedia are being handled on a different server. Because of this, it is easier if you e-mail me those type documents and I will make the links.

As more people offer suggestions for navigation we will post those recommendations here. Thanks for visiting the Mississippi Workforce University
